Crosstown High Volleyball Makes History
It’s been a record-breaking season for Crosstown High’s volleyball team! Wrapping up the regular season with an astounding 24–2 overall record and an undefeated 17–0 district run, the team didn’t just play hard , they made Crosstown history.
Led by Head Coach Myesha Daggs, the team brought home their first-ever City Championship and secured a dominant District Championship win after a season of perseverance and powerful teamwork.
But this win is about so much more than sports. It creates an opportunity for students to step into leadership, discovering their confidence, and building a culture that extends far beyond the court.

A Team Built from the Ground Up
When Coach Daggs first took the helm five years ago, Crosstown’s volleyball program was still in its early stages. But with vision and persistence, she transformed it into something powerful.
“Coaching at Crosstown has been incredible because we’ve built a winning, family-first culture,” said Daggs. “I especially love how diverse my team is. We have athletes involved in theater, the arts, other sports, and student leadership. Many of them might not have been friends otherwise, but volleyball has brought them together and created an amazing bond. For me, coaching goes far beyond the court; it’s about shaping young people for life.”

Players Who Lead by Example
Senior captain and outside hitter Addison Epps has played a key role in leading the team through its historic season. A veteran of the sport, Epps has been playing volleyball since eighth grade and she’s taken the lessons from the court into every part of her high school experience.
“Volleyball taught me how to manage my time, stay disciplined, and push through challenges, lessons that carry over into the classroom every day,” said Epps. “Playing in the district championship was unforgettable. The nerves and adrenaline were high. It felt like everything we’d worked for all season had led to that moment. Even when things don’t go perfectly, effort and teamwork make the biggest difference. I want to continue growing as both an athlete and a leader, and I’m motivated to see how far volleyball can take me.”

Rising Stars, Big Dreams
Junior Jeanelle Acosta, who plays right side hitter, joined the team as a freshman, simply because she was curious about the sport. Three seasons later, she’s a key contributor on a championship team.
“Being able to play in the district championship made me feel so proud of how far the team has come. I also felt very proud of myself for working hard and committing to such an amazing team,” said Acosta. “Sports have impacted my educational experience by teaching me how to be responsible while balancing sports and academics. I’m very excited for club volleyball and to come back to play for Crosstown next year!”
