Inside the UTK Summer Send-Off
Every summer, something special happens at the Choose901 office. The walls go orange, the energy goes up, and a group of Memphis students gets ready to head to Knoxville knowing they're not leaving their city behind.
The UTK Memphis Vols Chapter hosted its annual Summer Send-Off this year, bringing together incoming University of Tennessee students with alumni and community leaders before the big move to Rocky Top. Choose901 Alumni has been a proud partner in this tradition for years.
Memphis Mayor Paul Young, a UT alumnus himself, stopped by to offer words of wisdom to students and their families. His wife is an Assistant Professor of Health Promotion and Disease Prevention at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center right here in Memphis, making them a living example of what it looks like to stay rooted in this city while reaching beyond it.
The message of the night was clear: heading to Knoxville doesn't mean leaving Memphis. It means representing it.
