host a tailgate with MAM
Support Memphis Athletic Ministries (MAM) by hosting a tailgate party to support and encourage the youth participating in their sports seasons throughout the year!
How You Can Help:
Rally together a group of 5-10+ enthusiastic volunteers who can help not only with serving food but also with forging meaningful connections with students and their families.
Food to feed 200 attendees (whether freshly prepared on-site or pre-made), along with essential supplies such as plates, napkins, and utensils. Please note that their grill is at your disposal. Some ideas – hamburgers / hot dogs, pizza, wings, etc…
In the spirit of fostering enthusiasm, they suggest including poster boards and markers to create signs that can uplift and bolster their teams. They will provide a roster on site that you can use to personalize your posters.
They invite your organization to embrace a spirit of creativity and enjoyment that aligns with the essence of a traditional tailgate celebration! If you have access, consider bringing yard games, comfortable lawn chairs or even face painting, if you’re inclined. While these suggestions are not obligatory, they do add to the festivity.

Collegiate school of Memphis
This year Collegiate middle school students will be attending JA Biztown and JA Finance Park, unique experiential education programs operated by Junior Achievement of Memphis and the Mid-South. These on-site visits are the concluding activities to the curriculum, which encompasses important elements of community and economy, work readiness, financial literacy, and business management.
While visiting JA BizTown and Finance Park, each student will become a Town Citizen and assume a job in one of the Town businesses. Students will experience economics first-hand by producing and/or selling products, receiving a paycheck, working as a member of a business team, repaying a business loan, shopping, and managing a personal bank account.
Event Details:
7th grade students will participate in JA Finance Park on Friday, March 21, 2025 (approximately 8am to 2pm).
6th grade students will participate in JA Biztown on Thursday, May 10, 2025 (approximately 8am to 2pm).
Volunteers can sign up for one or both events!
Volunteers who offer to assist during the on-site visit must participate in a virtual orientation training and a background screening. These requirements provide volunteers with the opportunity to understand the in-class curriculum as well as the on-site schedule and procedures. They will gain firsthand experience about their role in assisting the students.
new hope christian academy urban garden
At New Hope Christian Academy, volunteers are needed to help in the Urban Farm where you can work with nature while supporting an innovative gardening program. You’ll be assisting with gardening duties like harvesting berries, preparing for the veggie stand, spot watering, and weeding. This opportunity is open to high school students and adults, available on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 8 am to 2 pm.
This hands-on experience not only helps sustain the garden but also provides educational opportunities for students to learn about healthy, sustainable living. If you’re short on time but still want to make an impact, you can support the urban farm by visiting the “pay what you can” farm stand starting late March. All proceeds go right back into the farm.
