What’s New This Year at Crosstown High

Crosstown High is known for its innovative approach to education through project-based learning, and this year promises to be another one for the books. With new leaders and new courses, there are so many exciting things in the works for the year ahead.

New Leadership, Fresh Vision

One of the most anticipated changes is the appointment of Erin Johnson as the new Head of School. Erin brings a wealth of experience and a fresh perspective to the role. Her vision includes expanding the STEAM programs (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Mathematics), continuing to enhance creativity and innovation in their school curriculum.

Crosstown gets the “A” in STEAM

Crosstown High was recently designated as a STEAM school, which means they have added Art to their class lineup. They recently partnered with New Ballet Ensemble, which brings dance classes to the students.

“We're really amping up music and dance this year,” said Laura Saliba, Dual Enrollment Coordinator at Crosstown High. “The performing arts is something we were kind of missing last year. We're excited to offer more opportunities for our students to express themselves creatively.”

How You Can Support Crosstown High

Crosstown High is one of the most innovative high schools in the city, and if you’d like to support the school as they continue to grow, we’ve got a couple of options for you:

Donate to Their Yeti Fund: This fund helps Crosstown High provide field trips and educational experiences that many of the students might not otherwise afford. Your contributions make a significant impact on their ability to offer these opportunities.

Offer Work-Based Learning Opportunities: If you are a professional willing to mentor a high school student through Crosstown High’s work-based learning program, they are in need of professionals. Their students gain invaluable experience by working in real-world settings, and your involvement can make a difference.

“Work-based learning is where students go to school for half a day and then work at a job for the other half,” Saliba said. “We need people in various professions to be open to having a high school student learn through this program.”
