Class Was in Session: Teach901 Abbott After Hours
Let's talk about teachers.
Right now, in classrooms all over Memphis, teachers are showing up. Early mornings. Late nights. Lesson plans at the kitchen table. Pouring into our kids every single day.
So when school went back in session at Abbott, Teach901 made sure Memphis teachers had a night that was just for them.
A Night of Teachers, Trivia, and TV
Class was in session at Wiseacre Brewing at the Teach901 Abbott After Hours!
On Wednesday, October 7, Memphis educators came together at Wiseacre OG on Broad Avenue for drinks, laughs, Abbott trivia, and the Season Premiere of Abbott Elementary on the big screen.
The night followed a class schedule of its own. Check-in started at 5:00 with time to grab a drink and hang out. At 6:00, teachers went head to head in Abbott Elementary trivia, with prizes on the line. And at 7:30, everyone settled in for the Season Premiere.
Every teacher's first drink was on us, and educators got 20% off Wiseacre drinks and food all night long.
A little friendly competition, a lot of fun, and a well-deserved night celebrating our teachers!
Teachers, good beer, and a show that gets what they do every day. It's a small way we say thank you. But small thank-yous add up.
Why Nights Like This Matter
We don't just place teachers. We celebrate them.
Teachers hear about everything that's going wrong. Events like this are a chance to make sure they hear about what's going right. They're a chance for teachers to connect with each other, to laugh, to feel seen, and to be reminded that this city is grateful for them.
This year, over 1,000 teachers have shown up to Teach901 events, from job fairs to our Back to School Bash to Teacher Appreciation events across the city. Our goal is simple: keep these things going all year long.
Because when a teacher feels supported, they stay. And when they stay, our kids win. Strong classrooms build strong neighborhoods. Strong neighborhoods build a strong Memphis.
Teach901's Biggest Year Ever
Every one of those teachers had to get to that classroom somehow. That's where Teach901 comes in.
Teach901 is having its most impactful year ever. So far in 2026, we've placed more than 420 teachers in Memphis classrooms. That's already more than all of 2025, which was our previous record at 325. And the year isn't over.
That's more than 1,400 teachers placed since 2020 and over 4,000 since we launched in 2013.
Some of these teachers are brand new to Memphis. They came here because someone told them this city was worth teaching in. Others have been in Memphis classrooms for years and were ready for something new. A different school. A different grade. A better fit.
Either way, our job is the same: help great teachers find their next right thing, right here in Memphis.
This is what it looks like when a city decides its classrooms matter.
Don't Wait Until May
Teacher Appreciation Week is 8 months away. But you don't have to wait. You can appreciate a teacher right now.
Write a note to your kid's teacher. High-five a teacher. Drop off a coffee in the front office. Email the teacher who changed your life and tell them so. Shout out a teacher on social media and tag @Teach901. Tell a principal what their teacher means to your family. Knock out something on a classroom wish list.
None of it takes long. All of it matters.
Keep This Work Going
Here's the truth: none of this happens without people who believe in Memphis classrooms.
Every placement. Every teacher finding their next right thing. Every watch party, job fair, and thank-you event. It's all made possible by Memphians investing in Memphis.
So we're asking you to consider becoming a monthly donor. Whatever amount means something to you. $10. $25. $100. It all goes toward keeping great teachers in front of Memphis kids and helping our young people reach their full potential.
