Leaders Credit Union on Why Memphis Teachers Deserve to Be Celebrated
Leaders Credit Union has been serving Memphis since 1957, founded by educators, for educators. Nearly seven decades later, that passion hasn't faded. They believe in empowering your passion and making lives better, grounded in a people-first mission built on service, trust, and community impact.
As a credit union, they're deeply rooted in purpose: serving their members, empowering financial well-being, and investing in the long-term success of the communities they call home.
For Leaders, when you support the people who make a community thrive, everyone benefits. When Teach901 set out to give Memphis teachers a full month of celebration, Leaders Credit Union was one of the sponsors who made it happen.
Why did you choose to sponsor Teach901’s Teacher Appreciation Month?
“Sponsoring Teach901’s Teacher Appreciation Month was an easy decision for Leaders because it aligns with what we value most — investing in people who are making a difference every day. Teachers play a key role in Memphis. They show up early, stay late, and give far more than what’s listed in their job description. They are shaping the next generation of leaders, thinkers, and dreamers, and they deserve to be recognized, celebrated, and supported.
Teach901’s work is impactful and meaningful, and we’re happy to partner with an organization that is committed to uplifting educators and advocating for public education in Memphis.”
What does it mean to your organization to invest in educators specifically?
“This is the foundation of who we are. We were started by educators, and education is at the core of who we are. To Leaders, investing in educators is investing in the future. Educators are not only teaching math, reading, and science — they’re helping shape confidence, character, and opportunity.
Supporting teachers means supporting the students and families they serve. It means strengthening classrooms, schools, and ultimately the entire Memphis community. It also sends an important message: that educators are seen, valued, and appreciated for the essential role they play.”
How do you think about community partnership as a form of impact?
“At Leaders, we believe meaningful community impact happens through partnership. No single organization can meet every need, but when community-minded organizations come together, real change happens. We view partnerships as a way to create lasting impact by supporting the work already happening in our city.
Teach901 is a great example of that — they are actively creating a culture of appreciation for teachers while building community support around education. Partnering with them allows us to amplify that mission and contribute in a way that makes a tangible difference.”
Outside of this sponsorship, what are other ways Leaders gives back to the Memphis community?
“Our support for Memphis goes far beyond one sponsorship. Leaders Credit Union is committed to giving back through volunteerism, community events, financial education, and ongoing partnerships with local organizations.
Whether it’s supporting youth development, providing financial literacy resources, investing in community initiatives, or participating in local outreach efforts, our goal is always the same: to empower passions and improve lives. We believe that supporting the community isn’t a one-time action — it’s an ongoing responsibility, and we are excited to continue supporting.”
Why is supporting teachers one of the most important investments a community can make?
“A thriving city begins with strong schools. Teachers have one of the most influential roles in shaping the future of any community. When educators are supported, students have a better chance of succeeding. When students succeed, families thrive. And when families thrive, the entire city benefits.
Supporting teachers is not just about appreciation — it’s about sustainability. It’s about ensuring our community continues to develop future leaders, skilled workers, and engaged citizens.”
How does showing up for Memphis educators connect to your broader mission?
“At its core, Leaders Credit Union exists to help people build better lives. Supporting educators is a natural extension of that mission because teachers are doing the work of building better lives every single day. By showing up for Memphis educators, we are reinforcing our commitment to service, community, and long-term impact.
We’re not just investing in classrooms — we’re investing in the future of Memphis. We’re happy to stand with Teach901, and glad to stand with the educators who make a difference in our city every day.”
